sella bank – lugano CH

This restoration and expansion project was intended to convert an early 20th-century building, located in Lugano, into offices and an area for private banking services and business activities.
The commissioner, a bank, entrusted Archiconsult with the architectural project, which mainly focused on the portion of the building to be expanded. In essence, the mostly glass and iron structure is covered in Rhein-Zink, manifesting an architectural and volumetric identity that breaks with the pre-existing structure while maintaining a harmonious whole. This synchronization was made possible via walkways that connect the various floors, creating a nonimitative rapport, emphasized in the differentiation between structure and materials.
